Jonathan had another rough day today. He cried a lot and may be having continued stomach cramps. They are going to start giving him something to help. He did start moving his head a lot today. He is moving if from side to side as if to shake his head No. The past few days he has done some head movement but today he did a lot of it. His blood sugars have been great and they are pleased with his diabetes. They are looking toward the end of the week moving him to The Children's house at Baylor. This will present a new challenge and a new stage in Jonathan's recovery. Please be in prayer for Jonathan and pray that we can continue to stand on God's word and healing for Jonathan.
Also, continue to pray for Elizabeth and Sarah, who both recently have been sick. They are having to deal with an adult situation at a very young age and they need all the prayer support that they can get. God has been good and faithful and we are trusting for His continued guidance as we move into the next phase of Jonathan's journey.

Jonathan had a rough start today. He was crying most of the morning due to some stomach cramps. He did settle down and was fine for the rest of the day. We have started seeing some small arm movement and some movement in his legs. The doctor came in today and told us that we would probably be moving to The Children's House at Baylor sometime this week. We are praying that God would raise him up before that transfer, but if that is where God wants us to go we will follow.
We were watching a video tonight and got 2 scripture passages in particular from the Lord, which we are claiming for Jonathan. The first is John 14:13-14 which says "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." And the verse that we are claiming for Jonathan specifically is

Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you."

We are asking for people to join us in prayer that God has already healed Jonathan and that we will be patient and wait on the Lord to reveal to us the time of his complete healing. Join with us also in praise to the Lord for what He has already done and what He is doing in the future!

Jonathan was moved to a new room today. He is now on the 6th floor in room 658. His new phone number is 214-456-7658. This room is small, but we are managing. One good thing that happened today is while the Speech Therapist was working with Jonathan, he would chew when they asked him. They would also ask him to stick out his tongue to taste some berry spray that they use and he actually did this 4 times in a row! The doctors are still working to regulate his blood sugar levels and Jonathan is doing well through this. They hope to have a good working schedule for him next week.
A major prayer need for Jonathan is that his conscious mind would awaken fully and allow him to communicate in other ways rather than to cry. Also, for our family, Elizabeth has a stomach bug and has been very sick today. Our family would covet prayer for our strength and endurance for the road ahead of us. God has been so gracious to us and we are standing on his promises. We believe that God has a special plan for Jonathan and our family. Please pray that God would help our unbelief and allow us to draw closer to Himself.

Today was a little tougher, but a good day nonetheless. Jonathan was on a new feeding schedule of 1 hour on, 3 hours off, therefore it threw us off a little on his daily schedule. He did very well on this schedule with no sign of reflux or any problems. He didn't even need extra insulin with his feedings. We gave him a much needed haircut this evening and got some awesome wide eyes while he was lying down. We also toured the Children's House at Baylor Rehab center today. This is where he is recommended to go once his diabetes is manageable. We were pleased with what we saw there, although we continue to pray for God's healing, allowing us to go home instead of rehab. Please continue to pray earnestly for his healing. Pray also for peace for us as we wait for God to answer our prayers.

11:00 pm - We had another good day today. After a rough night in which he cried most of it, we had a very good morning. Jonathan had his eyes open from about 9 am to 12 pm. They started working on the switch from continuous feeding to the bolus feeding by changing to 3 hours food, 1 hour off. During the 1 hour off, we put him in the wheelchair and took him downstairs to see the trains. While we were down there and close to some large windows, he opened his eyes wide when we got close to the sunshine. It was awesome! He made some new moves during physical therapy. He moved his hands on his own when touched with some ice. He also moved his legs a little as well. During speech therapy, he opened his mouth when she asked him to as well as chewed on a rubber brush. We had him up and out of the room at least 3 times. We tried to keep him up more so he would sleep better tonight. They made another move to 2 hours feed, 2 hours off this evening. My instinct is to worry about the reflux as the feedings get more per hour, so I am praying myself through that. So far, after one 2 on/2 off feeding, we are doing pretty well.

Important Prayer Needs:

His eyes have been opened more today than previous days. Please continue to pray that God will open his eyes more every day. Also pray that he will be able to tolerate the feeding as we work toward four 1 hour feedings (3 hours off) without any reflux. If he should begin to reflux, we will have to go to the stomach tube.

Monday, January 24, 2005

10:00 am - Jonathan has had his first purposeful movement this morning. As they were removing some medical equipment he moved his arm to try and stop them. Jonathan also moved his hand in a way to try to get their attention as they were taking care of him. His eyes continue to open slightly at times. They have the feeding tube on hold until they can have his swallowing ability evaluated by speech therapy. Please continue to pray for God's intervention and guidance in each decision. Continue to pray with us for a full recovery by God's grace.

Friday, January 21, 2005

Jonathan was scheduled to have a feeding tube put in today and it was called off at the last minute for some additional research. Many have been praying for God's leadership in regard to this decision. The Lord promises to guide us as we ask for wisdom and we believe the Lord is doing that through these circumstances. The Lord has extended the time on this decision and given more time for the Coopers to find His confirmation. Please unite with us in praying for discernment concerning God's will.

Thursday, January 20, 2005

Jonathan has been moved to a new room. The room is on the 7th floor Room #401. Direct line is 214-456-7701.

Wednesday, January 19, 2005

3:00 pm - Please intercede for the Coopers over the next couple of days to determine God's will concerning the feeding tube. At this time Jonathan is scheduled to have the tube put in on Friday.
9:00 am - Jonathan will be having an Upper GI today to determine if he is a candidate for a minor feeding tube rather than one that has to be surgically implanted. Please ask God for wisdom as the Coopers participate with medical staff in these decisions. Pray that Jonathan will open his eyes and wake up. Claim Isaiah 41:10 with us for the Cooper family.

Tuesday, January 18, 2005

8:00 am - Jonathan passed two important milestones yesterday. First he had a bowel movement. Second he is taking insulin through shots and not through a IV drip. These continue to be positive signs of Jonathan's progress. Praise the Lord with us for these positive steps. We are asking the Lord to open Jonathan's eyes.

Sunday, January 16, 2005

10:00 pm - Praise the Lord for His blessings. Tonight as the Coopers were telling Jonathan goodnight he began smiling. It was a perfect ending to the Lord's day. Thank you for your continued prayers and may the Lord continue to glorify Himself through His awesome work in Jonathan's life. Please remember to praise the Lord for these reminders of His presence.

8:00 am - Jonathan has continued to breathe on his own without the assistance of a respirator. We are uniting in prayer for Jonathan to wake up and for him to be able to swallow on his own. This week the Coopers anticipate having to make decisions about moving Jonathan to a rehab facility. Please continue claim God's promise for wisdom in James 1:5-8. Please pray for the Cooper family. We are specifically asking God to flood their minds with His peace. May they sense the presence of God with them today.

Friday, January 14, 2005

Pray that Jonathan will wake up.

Pray that Jonathan will be able to swallow on his own.

1:00 pm - Jonathan is being moved to a room on the 7th floor of Children's Hospital. Because of the move some things will be different for them. Please help us by following the above conditions as you plan your visit.

Thursday, January 13, 2005

10:30 am - Therapists were able to put Jonathan in a chair this morning so he could sit rather than just stay in bed. What an awesome blessing!

9:00 am - Jonathan had a very good night breathing on his own. We have much to praise our Lord for in these matters. Pray today for wisdom as the Coopers meet with a team of neurologists later this afternoon. The doctors called the meeting so the Coopers do not know what to expect. Claim James 1:5-8 as you pray. The Coopers have ask us to continue praying that Jonathan will wake up.

Wednesday, January 12, 2005

2:00 pm - They removed the breathing tube from Jonathan just a few minutes ago. Please pray that Jonathan by God's grace will continue to breath on his own. Pray that God will continue to guide the Cooper family in the decisions they are facing. We are seeking God's will for this very time.

Tuesday, January 11, 2005

3:00 pm - They made a last minute decision not to pull Jonathan's breathing tube because of some swelling he had in his throat. They are giving him some additional medication to remove the swelling and plan to remove it tomorrow. We know God is guiding the process. Continue interceding with us.

1:00 pm - Please pray for Jonathan over the next few hours. They plan to pull the breathing tube at 2:00 pm. Pray God will guide the Cooper family and the nurses and doctors making decision related to Jonathan. May God guide each step of this process for His glory.

8:00 am - We are asking for a united prayer focus this morning as they plan to take the breathing tube out around noon today. He has been breathing on his own since yesterday afternoon and the desired result is that he will not need the breathing tube any longer. Please join us in praying this morning and during the lunch hour when the neurologist will be arriving for consultation with the Coopers.

Monday, January 10, 2005

4:00 pm - Please pray fervently for Jonathan over the next 24 hours. They have placed the respirator on auto and Jonathan has been breathing on his own since early afternoon. They plan to take the breathing tube out tomorrow provided things go well tonight. Jonathan has opened his eyes slightly but not completely. Thank you for your faithful intercession as God reminds you of Jonathan and the Cooper family.

8:00 am - Special thanks to all who attended and prayed last night. It was an awesome time in the Lord's presence as we prayed for God's work in Jonathan's situation. Continue to pray today for Jonathan's full recovery.

Sunday, January 9, 2005

5:00 pm - Praise the Lord! Jonathan breathed on his own for 3 minutes. Jonathan continues to show signs of God's healing touch.

11:00 am - Jonathan developed an infection yesterday. Pray for a swift recovery. Continue to pray that Jonathan will increase his breathing as they remove respirator support. We will be having a special time of praise and intercession Sunday, January 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the House of Prayer at Lakeland. We are persevering together in prayer (Luke 18:1).

Friday, January 7, 2005

10:00 am - Praise the Lord with us for continued improvements in Jonathan's breathing. They are decreasing the assistance he is receiving from the respirator every few hours and Jonathan is responding very well. Jonathan also responded to a request from the neurologist to move his toes. Praise the Lord! They will be doing a MRI today. Continue to pray for positive results for the glory of God. We are grateful to God for His continued guidance through this process. Keep claiming God's promises with us.

Thursday, January 6, 2005

10:00 am - Please pray fervently that Jonathan will begin breathing on his own today. They will begin to diminish the assistance Jonathan is receiving from a respirator. This is a critical aspect of Jonathan's progress. He has been doing very well with the feeding tube. As you pray for Jonathan please claim God's prayer promises found in John 15:7, Matthew 18:19, Mark 11:22-24, Luke 11:9-10, John 14:13, 1 John 5:14-15. Each of these promises reveal a different aspect of prayer and remind us that God has promised He will answer.

Wednesday, January 5, 2005

11:00 am - Jonathan is continuing to respond positively. They are now feeding him through a feeding tube and removed the cranial shunt. They were going to do an EEG today to determine the level of brain activity. It will take a couple of days for results. Please keep praying that Jonathan will wake up and breath on his own.

Tuesday, January 4, 2005

4:30 pm - The CT scan today went well and affirmed some of the positive improvements Jonathan has been making. Jonathan's eyes are tracking the movement of light and his ability to breath on his own is improving.

11:00 am - Jonathan's vital signs are still improving. Praise the Lord for the continued positive response. We are uniting together in faith to pray for a full recovery.

Monday, January 3, 2005

12:30 pm - Jonathan began showing signs today that he may be waking up from the coma. He has moved his arms and legs. These are all very good signs. Please continue to pray. We know God is working.

Sunday, January 2, 2005

The Cooper family is so thankful for the many expressions of love that they have received during the past few days.

4:00 pm - After additional tests today they have discovered that Jonathan's brain stem has severe damage. It will take a miracle from our Lord for the stem to repair itself and there is no option for any type of surgery at this point. They plan to monitor Jonathan's condition this week before making any decisions regarding life support. Please pray for Jonathan's deliverance during these days. Ask God for wisdom and guidance as the Cooper's seek God's divine plan fulfilled in Jonathan's life. Pray in faith for God's intervention.

10:00 am - Jonathan had a good night with no complications. The family is still waiting for additional signs that Jonathan is coming out of the coma. Today is another important day in Jonathan's recovery process. Please pray for a full recovery that will result in many glorifying God.

Saturday, January 1, 2005

4:00 pm - The family was very encouraged by a visit from a new neurologist who believes Jonathan is stabilized and will wake up soon. The problem is that they will not know the damage the stroke caused until he wakes up. Please continue to pray for the Cooper family and for Jonathan's full recovery. The next 24-36 hours are very critical in Jonathan's recovery.

The Cooper family would like to express their thanks to all who continue to pray for them and to minister to their needs while they are waiting for results.

Special thanks to the 140 people who came to pray for them on Friday December 31st in the House of Prayer at Lakeland. Financial gifts may be given through Lakeland Baptist Church and designated for Jonathan Cooper.
